If the drive can be mounted and accessed normally on the PC, then the problem is that the format of the drive is only for PC but not for Mac. Check and fix the disk in Disk Utility. If after checking and you find the issues is really related to the WD My Passport external drive, then you can try to fix the drive issues in Disk. Repair external hard drive by using Disk Utility. When your Mac is not recognizing the external hard drive, use Disk Utility to mount and repair the unrecognized external drive. Steps are as follows: Go to Finder Applications Utilities.Double-click Disk Utility to launch it.; If Disk Utility lists the external hard drive in gray, then select your external hard drive from the sidebar.
If you use Disk Utility and highlight the Seagate drive on the list of external disks and then click First Aid button at top left and then click the Run button and then click on 'Show Details' can you post that screenshot? First, see if it appears in Disk Utility. If it appears but is not mounted, you can select the mount option which should mount your disk. Then, click on the Apple logo in the top left corner and select about my Mac. It should appear under storage. Also try going to the system report under the overview tab.

Western Digital manufactures two types of the WD My Passport hard drive. One has for Mac as part of the description and is preformatted to HFS+ (equivalent to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) File System. The other type is NTFS formatted and is simply called WD My Passport – no for Mac after the title. NOTE: Internet Recovery requires that the Mac has OS X Lion or later. Internet Recovery is essentially the same as using the ol' Snow Leopard disc to boot. EDIT 2: That message means that someone has locked out the Mac as a security measure using Find My Mac within iCloud.
