Although it certainly wasn't planned that way, Charge It 2 da Game was No Limit's first major release since the breakthrough success of Master P's Ghetto D.Like any No Limit album, Charge It 2 da Game is primarily notable for the way it co-opts current trends. Granted, it doesn't sound as derivative as Ghetto D, possibly because Snoop Doggy Dogg, Ice Cube, and Eightball & MJG make guest. Album Description. Genetic and artistic brethren to New Orleans' No Limit family (he is the younger brother of Master P and C-Murder), Silkk the Shocker (whose real name is Vyshonne Miller) was one of the label's best-selling artists. The Shocker is the debut album of American rapper Silkk the Shocker, who was then known as Silkk. It was released on August 20, 1996, by No Limit Records and Priority Records. It features production by Beats By the Pound and guest appearances from C-Murder and Mia X among others.

It features production by Beats By the Pound and guest appearances from C-Murder and Mia X among others. The Shocker was only a mild success compared to some his future albums and made it to number 49 on the US Billboard 200 and #6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. As with most of No Limit's albums, this featured a lot of guest appearances from members of the record label including his brothers, Master P and C-Murder and group TRU. since its release The Shocker has sold over 600,000 copies.
Background[edit]
Planning of this album dates as far back as early 1995, as advertisements for the album can be seen on the back cover of earlier copies of Master P's 1995 album 99 Ways to Die.
Controversy[edit]
Before the album was released, the initial cover for the album had Silkk holding a 9 mm caliber outside of a TV. This is possibly why the 'Parental Advisory' logo was moved to the middle of the cover.[2]

Music career[edit]
1996–1998: The Shocker and Charge It 2 da Game[edit]
Silkk the Shocker rose to fame in the mid-late 1990s; after striking a deal with Priority, Silkk released his 1996 debut album The Shocker in August 1996 using the alias 'Silkk' and with beats from acclaimed producers such as Craig B and DJ Daryl. After changing his name to Silkk the Shocker, he went on to appear on numerous albums from TRU's Tru 2 da Game, Mia X's Unlady Like, and Mystikal's Unpredictable.Shortly after the release of The Shocker, Silkk the Shocker changed his name from Silkk to acquire a new name based on his first album. He used the Shocker alias on a few No Limit albums in 1997. Silkk would feature on Master P's 1997 hit 'Make 'Em Say Uhh!' which is featured on Master P's 1997 album Ghetto D, but also released as a single in early 1998. Continuing on the success of the hit single, Silkk would release his next single with labelmate Mystikal as a featured artist on one of his biggest hits of his career at the time 'It Ain't My Fault'. It Ain't My Fault gained popularity and became one of the trademark songs for Silkk the Shocker. In that same year Silkk the Shocker would feature on, at that time a new group, Destiny's Child's single 'Just Be Straight with Me',. The same year Silkk dueted with R&B singer Mýa on 'Movin' On', a song from her self-titled debut album Mýa.
1999: Made Man[edit]
In 1999, Mýa and Silkk collaborated on the lead single from his album Made Man. The track, titled 'Somebody Like Me', became one of the year's top-selling singles on the Billboard charts. Made Man's most successful single was 'It Ain't My Fault 2' featuring Mystikal became one of Silkk's biggest hits to date. Made Man was certified platinum by the RIAA in 1999 making him a big mainstream artist in the late 1990s and early 2000s. On December 30, 1999, Made man had sold over 3.5 million records in the U.S and over 5 million copies worldwide, making Silkk the Shocker one of the biggest artist at the turn of the new millennium.
2001–2004: My World, My Way and Based on a True Story[edit]
In 2001, Silkk released My World, My Way, which sold over 200,000 copies its first week in stores, and by July 2004, it has sold 712,000 copies in the U.S. He made a single called 'That's Cool' featuring Southern rapper Trina which became a hit. A single called 'He Did That' which was produced by Donald XL Robertson made it to #13 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles and Tracks. Based on a True Story was released in 2004 which didn't generate the same publicity he enjoyed in the late 1990s, but the former still managed to sell very well.
