We know, it's already Star Wars overload as the release of “The Force Awakens” hit theaters this past weekend—but true SW fans can never get enough, like us! Though we won’t give away any reviews/spoilers of the new movie here, we can take a look at some of the franchise’s best vehicles. It was hard choosing the 10 greatest Star Wars vehicles, but here they are:
Star Wars Empire Vehicles
AT-AT Walker
The Empire Strikes Back wouldn’t have been nearly exciting without these AT-AT Walkers during the Hoth battle scene. Nearly impervious to blaster shots (yet will come down by tying up its legs and then shooting the head?) and capable of carrying lots of Imperial troops, you don’t want to see these off in the distance.
Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1 Fighter
This ain’t your average TIE Fighter. Built with a larger cockpit to accommodate someone as large as the Sith Lord Vader, it’s also faster, is armed with more firepower and even comes with both hyperdrive and deflector shields. Bonus feature: life support comes standard equipment, too.
Imperial Shuttle
First class transport for the Imperial Army or low-key cargo spy ship for the Rebel Alliance? Both. Shuttles like these were prevalent in Return of the Jedi and are one of the better looking spaceships of the franchise.
Star Wars Imperial Sniper Vehicle
Imperial Star Destroyer
Opening up A New Hope (Episode 4) is the audience’s first hand look at an Imperial Star Destroyer giving easy chase to a diplomatic ship. We see them plenty more times throughout the entire series and they don’t get any less intimidating.
Millenium Falcon
This Corellian freight ship needs no introduction. What was once Lando Calrissian’s is now under the helm of Han Solo and Chewbacca, is the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” (thanks to unassuming but often malfunctioning hyperdrive technology) and 12 parsecs is all it took for the Falcon to complete the Kessel Run. Makes its latest appearance in The Force Awakens.
Rey’s Speeder
Not much is known about Rey and we damn sure aren’t going to drop spoilers. All we’ve seen is this late model speeder bike being fired up and driven through the Jakku desert.
Slave 1
Chances are, if this was hunting you down, you were highly wanted somewhere the galaxy. Boba Fett used the Slave 1 to track and transport Han Solo (frozen in carbonite) from Cloud City to Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine.
Snowspeeder
Designed originally for air, these Rebel fighter planes had to adapted to the icy conditions of planet Hoth. They're armed with a pair of cannons and rear harpoon cable gun, used to bring down AT-AT Walkers.
Speeder Bike (74-Z)
Star Wars Imperial Vehicles Toys
Though speeder bikes makes several appearances in various trims in nearly every Star Wars movie, none is more popular and dear to our hearts than the 74-Z Galactic Empire edition, used by Scout Troopers to chase Rebels on the Endor moon. Jams com-links and is equipped with a laser cannon.
X-Wing Starfighter
Saved the best for last? Possibly. Aside from the Millenium Falcon, the X-Wing comes a close second to being one of the most iconic Star Wars fighters. In The Force Awakens, they appear to be faster and more maneuverable.
